Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
The Guitar Pages (theguitarpages.com) is run by Kyle Kienitz. This page explains what information is collected when you visit the site, who collects it, and the choices you have. If you have a question about it, email tgp@theguitarpages.com.
The short version
- There are no accounts, comments or forms on this site, so we never ask for your name or email address.
- We use analytics to see which articles people read, and we show ads. Those services use cookies and similar technology.
- Some links go to stores such as Amazon, and we may earn a commission if you buy something through them.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Information collected automatically
Server logs
Like nearly every website, our web server keeps a standard log of requests: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, the address of the page that linked you here, and your browser’s user agent. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, and they are deleted automatically after about two weeks.
Analytics
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, which tells us things like which articles are popular, roughly where visitors are located, and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives information such as your IP address and the pages you view. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
We work with Grow (by Mediavine) to show ads and offer site features. Grow and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technology to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view, in order to show ads and measure how they perform. Ads may be personalized based on that activity. See Grow’s privacy policy for details.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative, and you can change ad personalization for Google at Google Ad Settings.
Affiliate links
The Guitar Pages is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. We may also take part in other affiliate programs.
When you click an affiliate link, the store you land on may set a cookie so it can credit us for a purchase. We don’t receive any information about you or what you buy beyond a total of sales and commissions. The store’s own privacy policy applies to anything you do there; see the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.
Embedded videos
Some articles include YouTube videos. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. At that point the video is loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s privacy policy applies to it.
Site search
Search on this site runs entirely in your browser. What you type isn’t sent to our server, although the search page address (which includes your search words) may be recorded by our analytics like any other page view.
Cookies and your choices
The cookies on this site come from the analytics and advertising services described above; the site itself doesn’t need cookies to work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and browser features or extensions that block trackers will also work here. Blocking cookies won’t stop you from reading anything on the site, though ads may be less relevant.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states with privacy laws, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), you may have the right to ask what personal information has been collected about you, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Because the analytics and advertising services above collect that information directly, the opt-out links above are the fastest way to act on it. You can also email tgp@theguitarpages.com and we’ll help however we can. We won’t treat you differently for making a request.
Children
This site is meant for a general audience and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
